While your Messy Church may be unable to meet in person during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made available some of the session material from the magazine that families can use by themselves at home.

Get Messy! is a four-monthly subscription resource for Messy Church leaders.
Each issue contains four session outlines (one per month), including planning sheets and take-home handouts, together with information on the latest resources and events.
It also seeks to encourage and refresh Messy Church leaders by providing monthly Bible studies, relevent and encouraging articles and a problem page. Other features include a youth column and stories from Messy Churches around the world.

In detail
The new writers’ team is diving into this set of themes with a lot of water sloshing around. In May, we’re down by the river with the story of Philip and the Ethiopian: a splendid story to tie into your church’s involvement in Thy Kingdom Come, into baptism or simply into the after-effects of Pentecost as God’s Spirit takes Jesus’ message across continents.
In June, we’re exploring the story of Jesus, Jairus’ daughter and the woman who had been bleeding for years. In some parts of the world, this theme will be a helpful one for Father’s Day. But wherever we are, it’s good to look at a story involving a female character and a child, showing how much Jesus values each of us.
In July, the Tokyo Olympics will be hot news, so you may want to link that event to your Messy Church session on the action-packed sprints, swims and high jumps of Jonah. And in August, the northern-hemisphere Messy Churches have a slightly higher chance of getting outside, so we’re splashing through the general biblical image of water. If you’re considering baptising anyone and didn’t get around to it in May with the story of Philip, this month could be a good opportunity. Have fun!
